How much DLA you receive depends on your pay grade and whether you are allowed to move with dependents. This differs from branch to branch, but you can expect to receive the DLA about 30 days after filing your paperwork. You can request an advance of your DLA and some other moving payments, although this is not guaranteed. Normally, you can only get one DLA per fiscal year. If you're terminally ill, you don't have to complete a PIP2 application form. However, your doctor or consultant will need to complete a DS form with information about your condition to send to the DWP. The DWP will then write to you to let you know the outcome of your claim. If you need help completing the application form, preparing for assessments or making an appeal, contact your local Age UK or Citizens Advice.
You can also ask the DWP for help if your disability or health condition makes it difficult for you to make a claim or attend meetings — for example, if you have problems reading or filling in a form, using a phone or computer, or understanding complex information. Daily activities could include things like: washing and bathing getting dressed and undressed preparing food managing treatment reading and understanding signs, symbols and words communicating.
